This study aims to describe and analyze the intellectual trajectory of O.K. Nizami Jamil in Riau Malay cultural literature and his contribution to strengthening cultural identity in Pekanbaru City. The research employs a descriptive-analytical method with a qualitative approach through biographical study and narrative analysis. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, documentation, and literature review, with informants selected using the snowball sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis through stages of data reduction, classification, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that O.K. Nizami Jamil’s socio-cultural background, rooted in a strong Malay environment, shaped his intellectual orientation toward cultural preservation. His works function not only as documentation of history and customs but also as a medium for transmitting cultural values and strengthening the collective identity of the Riau Malay community. Furthermore, his role as a cultural figure and public intellectual positions him as a role model in society. This study highlights that local intellectuals play a strategic role in the production of cultural knowledge and the preservation of local wisdom in the face of globalization.
