Abstract

Forced marriage is a marriage that is carried out due to pressure or coercion from other parties, such as parents, family, or the social environment. Forced marriage remains a social phenomenon across various walks of life and is often influenced by tradition, requiring a more nuanced understanding. This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of forced marriage in the film Hati Suhita from the perspective of Islamic Family Law. This research focuses on the practice of forced marriage as represented in film through dialogue, scenes, and storylines, and on how it impacts the domestic lives of the characters, using semi-netnographic analysis. The findings show that the marriage between Gus Birru and Alina Suhita was a form of forced arranged marriage due to family pressure and her father's authority as a kiai. This condition causes emotional conflict, rejection, and lack of communication, as well as disharmony in their household. From the perspective of Islamic Family Law, the practice uses the concept of ijbar rights, which is used as a basis for forcing marriage without the consent of the two prospective brides. Meanwhile, Islam emphasizes the importance of consent and willingness as fundamental conditions in a marriage. Although the concept of arranged marriage in Islam is allowed, its implementation must be based on the agreement of both parties so that the goal of marriage in the form of the creation of a harmonious, just, and beneficial family can be realized.
